At A4A, we have a special place in our hearts for mama dogs and their puppies. We specialize in rescuing pregnant dogs, nursing mothers, and their litters — animals that are often overlooked or overwhelmed by the shelter system.
Our foster network provides a safe, loving environment for moms to give birth and raise their puppies until they're old enough to be placed in forever homes. By the time they're ready for adoption, every dog in our program has received full veterinary care and is ready to thrive with their new family.

Our adoption process is designed to make sure every animal goes to a great home and every family is a great fit.
Adoption fees help cover the cost of veterinary care, vaccinations, and microchipping. Every fee goes directly toward our rescue programs. We offer a 7-day trial adoption period — if for any reason it doesn't work out, you may return the animal to us.
All potential adopters must be within 100 miles of St. Louis, Missouri.

If you're not ready to adopt but want to make a difference, consider becoming a foster family for a mama dog and her puppies. Fosters provide a temporary, loving home while pups grow and are prepared for adoption.
Fostering is one of the most impactful things you can do for these animals — and it's incredibly rewarding. A4A provides support, food, and coordination for all foster families.
