A4A is 100% volunteer-powered. There's no paid staff, no overhead salaries — just dedicated people who believe in our mission. Every hour you give goes directly toward helping pets and families in Jefferson County.
Advocates 4 Animals Pet Pantry operates without a single paid employee. Every program we run — from monthly food distributions to TNR to dog adoption — is made possible entirely by volunteers. Without them, none of this happens.
When you volunteer with A4A, you're not helping a corporation meet a quota. You're directly impacting a family who gets to keep their dog because they got pet food this month. You're helping a mama dog raise her puppies safely before they go to loving homes. You're making Jefferson County a little better for animals and people alike.
We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds, ages, and experience levels. If you love animals and want to help — we have a place for you.
There are many ways to get involved. Here are some of the ways our volunteers contribute:
Help run our monthly pet food distributions on the 3rd Saturday, 10am–12pm. Set up, check in clients, hand out food, and answer questions. This is our most visible and needed role.
Open your home to a mama dog and her puppies while they wait for adoption. A4A provides food, vet care, and support. Fostering is one of the most rewarding things you can do.
Help transport animals to vet appointments, foster placements, or adoption events. A reliable vehicle and a flexible schedule is all you need.
Help trap community cats for spay/neuter as part of our TNR program. Training and equipment provided — this is meaningful work that directly reduces animal suffering.
Staff our pet supplies store on Wednesday and Saturday, 10am–2pm. Help customers, organize inventory, and keep the store running smoothly.
Help spread the word about A4A's programs through social media, community outreach, and event promotion. Great for those who can't commit to in-person schedules.
Have skills in photography, graphic design, grant writing, website management, or event planning? We'd love your help. Tell us what you're good at.
Manage a TNR'd community cat colony in your neighborhood — providing food, water, and monitoring to help stabilize the group over time.
Send us an email and tell us a little about yourself, where you're located, and how you'd like to help. We'll get back to you to discuss next steps.
